Troy Sneed’s Emtro Gospel label has partnered with #1 African-American romance novelist, Brenda Jackson, on the new movie, “Truly Everlasting.” The film is based on Jackson’s best-selling 1998 novel, “Truly Everlasting.” In the story, a man named Trask and woman named Felecia who have hated each other since childhood are drawn together when Felecia’s son Austin that he wants a father for the Christmas holidays since his biological father is deceased. When Trask hears of Austin’s unique request from one of Felecia’s relatives, he volunteers to be Austin’s dad for the holidays.

Against her better judgment, Felecia relents and allows Trask to move into her home and act as Austin’s father. Forced to be around each other for the child’s sake, the adults fall in love and the story takes on a unique twist that includes a projected custody battle for Austin.

Jackson, the most successful African-American romance novelist with millions of books sold, bankrolled the six-figure film budget herself. The movie was directed by her son, Gerald Jackson, Jr., a Columbia University film graduate. The film stars Kenny Rogers as Trask and Mikki Mabra as Felecia. The movie also includes an original soundtrack produced by BraMaDa Productions. It features songs by Brian H., who was known as J-Rome on P. Diddy’s “Making the Band 4” MTV reality series, and Jamia Alesia. The soulful urban music CD hits stores on May 8, 2012, a week before the DVD release.

Brenda Jackson is known as the Diva of Romance. She began reading romance novels to distress herself from her hectic job as an insurance executive and wondered why there were not more romance novels revolving around African-American people. At that point, she began to write romance stories. She’s now written over 80 romance novels that have sold over 3 million copies and made her the top in her field.

The public probably first noticed Troy Sneed as a choir member in the film “The Preacher’s Wife.” He also coached the Georgia Mass Choir for the Whitney Houston soundtrack. He later recorded solo albums for Savoy Records before launching his own Emtro Gospel Records label in 2005. Ever since, the label has placed over two dozen songs by various artists on the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart, including a half dozen by Sneed such as “Work It Out,” “The Struggle is Over” (#1 for 12 weeks),  ”Hallelujah” and “My Heart Says Yes.”
